Boom Boom Pow!

Yesterday was a good day.

I logged in and almost immediately set my orca alt up for his final hour of training to get him into that blasted beast. Then I went to Jita so as to fit up a Jaguar, Cheetah and Rupture. I popped these in my ship maintenance bay along with my Hurricane and Dramiel. With the remaining 16,018 m^3 of space I decided to pop in a shuttle and an RR Navitas (you read correctly). Then it was off to Ruvas.

So I scan down some ships and my first hit is a Raven. I warp in and it's a 5 room mission. As it turns out, it's a Raven-Kronos team. I loot and almost immediately the Raven goes red. Hurray! Lock, point and shoot drones as I orbit the silly carebear. He can't pop me and I just chill as my orca comes along SLOWLY. Meanwhile the Kronos locks me up pops Hobgoblin II's and proceeds to decide whether or not I'm worth it. I'm not For the time being.

Then my orca arrives! It's all Herp-Derp from there as I hot swap into my Hurricane and proceed to unload into the Raven. It took a bit long than I had thought with Republic Fleet EMP, but then again he did have invulnerability field II's fit. As the raven entered low shields, something amazing happened: the Kronos red boxed me and proceeded to web me as a Malediction showed up on D-Scan.

If only I had had my Proteus with me. As the Raven went boom my Hurricane went into structure and I swapped into the shuttle because my jaguar was shield tanked and the Kronos was aligned to warp anyway. So a Kronos got away, but I killed a Raven with no losses. Worth it >:)

My second kill of the evening was a Dominix who decided ninjas are evil and vile creatures who need to suffer the wrath of 15 hobgoblin II's. It was another 5 room mission, so it was going to be close as my shied did not like his bajillion drones he was throwing my way. Thank god for autocannons. His drones went pop pop but he was fielding them as fast as I could kill them. I also had the aide of fellow ninja Waagstrom who was in a Scimitar providing reps. The Dominix, who once I'd popped his small drones decided it was time to finish the mission once I'd popped all his small drones was at 40% armor once my Orca had arrived and I'd popped him. I offered to let him live but he declined. Sadly I couldn't scoop the 5 million ISK drop but it wasn't that much anyway.

Finally, I almost got a Nighthawk kill. I was Ninja-ing with Waagstrom again and the stupid carebear decided to shoot me in his worlds collide. He was prepared though, with precision missiles and ECM drones. I warped off and when I came back he was still there! Waagstrom was back in his Scimitar and we tried to get him. I was able to tank him but I couldn't pop his ECM drone fast enough. With 2 left he got a cycle in and as I locked him and his drones up he warped. I was that close. :(

Too bad. My night was concluded with the 17 jumps to Agra where I will hopefully get some nice kills tonight!

Long Time No Play

Mass Effect is an excellent game, let me just say that.

There have been several reasons for my absence from the EVE servers lately, the main one is I'm a bit burnt out with the game and need a brake in order to want to get back into the game.

Short post cause I have to go to bed, it's late.

EVE Binge Over

No I'm not quitting, just a little bored (with EVE) and busy as hell.  Plus we're at war and since my main flies my Orca that makes it pretty hard to go out and about my business of Mission Runner Ganking.

Sigh...

But I can't wait to get back in the game!

My Orca alternate will soon be ready, hurray!  Just about 12 more days until I can finally inject the industrial command ships book into his already bloated head!  Then it's off to the land of the Amarrian golden-already-shiny ships that I can't wait to fly fully skilled!  Sacrilege/Pulse Apoc here I come! My main meanwhile is gaining the ability to fly all manners of T2 Minmatar ships, under 6 days now until he can fly Cheetah, Hound, Jaguar, and the Wolf.  Who cares about the others?  I am also training up my scanning skills which I regret not including in my regime before my remap.  If only I had known that with excellent skills you can scan down armor tanking battleships at 8 AU!  Ah well, I have 12 days until my Orca alt is ready anyway.  Might as well fill that time with "Ninja Support" skills.

I really don't have much else to report.  Our current war is with some butt-hurt Russian Macro-ers who decided to kill our baiting fleet's loots about two weeks ago.  Herp Derp.

We flipped the loot as fast as we could, he scooped it and got aggro on us.  We popped him.  He then came back a bit later once his aggression counter had run out.  We warped in some suicide alts and got both his ship and his pod.  Fuck you Mimol!

He apparently went a little crazy after this because he lost about 400M ISK worth of implants.  LOL!  The war dec vote was put in within 30 minutes of his podding: sped up with the aid of taunts, jeers and other instigation's of rage by SN member.  "Trolololol" is the word of the day when you decide to steal from a Ninja.

So tonight I say goodnight to you.  My wallet is still comfortable padded from my Navy Raven kill a few nights ago (I seem to have more and more ISK lying around now than ever before...) and I have some Butt-Hurt Russian Macro-Douchebags to kill in my WARCA!

Laters,

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

PS: To any of my readers (if any, I don't really check), could you kindly tell me if the Daredevil is worth purchasing?  I already have a Dramiel (Just got this weekend!), but I haven't had a chance to fly it yet what with multiple wars and having bought it in Jita: City of Lag and WT Douchebaggery.

Pass the Duct Tape Plz...

I need it to hold together my slightly used Minmatar Ships!

With the loot from the Raven I killed in my previous post,  I was able to buy next month's PLEX as well as some fun new ships.

I bought and fit an armor Hurricane of Doom and a Dramiel.  As I mentioned before, drakes tend to run into EHP problems when "Hot Swapped" from an Orca.  So I bought a Hurricane in preparation for when my Orca alt can finally fly the beastly support ship that is the Orca.

Since T2 Medium Autocannons require T2 Small Autocannons, I also thought it would be pretty epic of me to fit up a Dramiel, King of Speed.  I popped some Gist B-Type Afterburners/Microwarpdrives on it and I can go 2200 m/s Stable (AB) or up to 5000 m/s for about three minutes (MWD).

Hurray for new shiny ships!

Pew Pew Navy Raven!

I got my first two solo kills today, both on mission runners.

My first was to a Russian dominix pilot who thought his friends could save him.  They could not.  The also thought they had aggro on my Orca.  They did not.  I pew pew pew'd his domi but due to lack of knowledge of the mechanics of the Orca I failed to save my drake from destruction.  Ah well.

So I quickly went over to Jita, reshipped into a brand spanking new drake and went about my business of scanning.  I found a Navy Raven and, though knowing that most CNR's are macro-ers, I decided to investigate.

As soon as I showed up on grid, he warped out.  He was an '06 player and the only player in his corporation.  After a short discussion, he asked me to keep an eye out for his mission objective, some viral agent or some sort.  My trusty Merlin soon sniffed it out and scooped it up, but my services are not rendered for free.

Apparently, this did not go over well with my CNR friend, for he promptly locked me up and proceeded to open fire.  My Orca, which was waiting on the gate struggled to warp in on time and my Merlin died in a ball of fire.

This is normally the time where Mr. CNR would warp out.  He did not.

He sits there for more than thirty seconds as I switch into my drake and promptly open fire with Torrent Rage Missiles.  But it is also here I learn the problem with shield tanking gank ships and Orca's.  Your bonus to shield amount is not taken into account when boarding ships, nor are certain modules.  So every time I board my drake, I'm at 60% shield strength, which means I have approximately 40k EHP.  His CNR was hitting my drake like it was the broad side of a barn, so it wasn't long until I was in armor, then structure shortly after.

Not wishing to repeat my previous mistake, I quickly switched into my Hawk and kited the CNR.  I then hopped back into the Drake and reopened fire for 30 seconds before quickly switching back to the Hawk as the CNR resumed fire upon my drake.  The Hawk could tank the CNR, the Drake could break it.  I had to find a new solution and quickly.  I decided to keep the CNR pointed with the hawk while I docked my Orca and repaired the drake.

When I came back in the Orca, I found another ninja on the gate and also that the CNR pilot had gone seemingly AFK for some unknown reason.  Herp derp.  I opened fire in my drake, which now had no shields (Buffer Hull Tank FTW!) and proceeded to destroy the CNR in a matter of minutes.

The CNR was worth 2.5 Billion ISK all told.  I tried to get a ransom of a mere 300 million ISK, but he wouldn't pay when I asked and I had to kill him while he was "afk".  The great thing was the 700 Million ISK in drops that I received for my hour and a half of work.  The Drops included a Gist C-Type X-Large Shield Booster (550 Million ISK), 2x Caldari Navy Cruise Missile Launchers (50 Million ISK ea.) and 1x Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System (90 Million ISK).

All Told,

20 Minutes Scanning
10 Minutes Salvaging
30 Minutes Baiting
30 Minutes Fighting

TOTAL
1.5 Hours
ISK Earned: 700,000,000.00
ISK Destroyed: 2,500,000,000.00

That was my second solo mission runner kill in my entire EVE career, I love this game.

Always betting on stupid,

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

PS- I admit that 99% of this kill was luck.  This could have gone very differently had he not shot, warped when he had the chance, logofski'd or killed my drake.  But in the end it was worth it.  Every stinking, ill-begotten penny of it.

PPS- I didn't post mails because these kills were done on one of my secret alts, well semi-secret.  I don't want to reveal his name to the general public.

Why I Hate Drakes

This evening -whoops- morning, I engaged my first ever attempt at a solo mission runner ganking with my PvP Drake.

As it was my first time using the Orca-Hotswap technique, I decided to just go for it and see what happens.  It looked like just a solo noob mission runner running a mission alone, with a noctis alt cleaning up after him.

The only problem was that my opponent was in a drake.  Three drakes in fact, as he warped all three of his characters (I'm 99% sure they were his alts) in to aid him.  Despite the fact that all the characters were about five months old or younger, they still could tank at their best 550 DPS, which is what my drake does.  Then they popped my drones with their drones (which is weird because I thought I'd popped them all with my hawk) before starting to slowly eat through my 60k EHP buffer.  At about 50% shields I knew that if I didn't get help, my drake would die.  I didn't want to just stow my ship because I knew that if I did, I might have the problem of the ship popping due to damage mechanics.  So I shouted in a ninja public channel for RR and I was promptly assisted.

However, by the time he actually warped in, I was in armor with my drake.  Sadface!  While I was busy getting RR, I had to reload, which meant I stopped firing.  The three drakes took this to mean I was going to let them go (they had no points, I had one of them pointed).  There was a little delay with the RR which thankfully was not a problem due to my previous statement.

When I finally got my RR on me, I re-engaged the newest character only to find that he had an equal tanking ability to all his fellows.  This sucked.

Then they shot my RR friend in his osprey, so he warped out.  Then their damage came back on me and I went into hull!  I warped away -no points, remember?- and promptly bounced to my safe.

All of this was an hour full of standoffs, coordinated dual boxing warp-in's while shooting the drones of three drakes.  The worst bit was I tanked all three of them better in my Hawk.

So if you ever wonder why I hate drakes from now on, that's why.

Night/Morning,

Switcheroo!

I switched up and repurposed my characters.

My Main is now my "Orca Alt", one of my carebear alts is now my Ninja alt, and tomorrow it is time to rape poor little mission runners.

Muhahahaha!

That is right.  I am going to start the raping of the innocent.  Nothing will stop me from unleashing a world of hurt upon carebears.  They all must die.

I've fit up my Orca with new, small and deadly Caldari Ships (Hurray for small volumes) and it's time for rapage!

Beware carebears! I'm hunting you down starting in just a few short hours!

Herp Derp!

My new favorite phrase of the week.

This will be a quicky post since I don't have too much time, it's nearly 11 pm when I'm starting this so here goes.

I've gotten few to no kills this week cause I've been stubborn and lazy about getting out and about with kills.  This'll probably change as I am thinking of doing a little switch-er-roo-ing with my alts, at least a temporary one.  This means more gank and less spinny spinny in stations.

I need money, so new ways to make ill gotten gains are being schemed up as I sit here writing this.  But they are top secret so mums the word until further notice.

My friend still hasn't sold any of his lottery tickets.  See previous post for more details!

Oh gosh, 1 minute left...

I refit my Proteus for le pew pew, subsystem has been switched and a trip to Jita for a Centum A-Type Medium Armor Repair System may soon be made.  Hurray for bling gank ships!!

Damn, that's time!

Fly recklessly while drunk,

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

PS- I do not support drunk driving, but drunk gamers are stupid gamers and I always bet on stupid!

A Favor for a Friend

My friend has just started up a lottery business in EVE, which so far is going slowly.  He has asked as many of his RL friends in EVE to purchase lottery tickets and to spread the word of his lottery, myself included.  So here is the scoop:
The business is called Bodacious Lotteries LTD, and it would be greatly appreciated if you would purchase some tickets!  The forum link can be found here

The current prizes are as follows:

Grand Prize: Faction Battleship of Choice or 700 million ISK
2nd Prize: T3 + Subs of Choice or 400 million ISK
3rd Prize: Command Ship of Choice or 200 Million ISK

There are lot's of other prizes too, including 300 million for the last bump before he closes the lottery, as well as 200 million for the person who purchases the most tickets and an additional 150 million to any Grand, 2nd or 3rd prize winner should they do so with one ticket.  That is to encourage both the little guy and the big guy.

You can track your ticket's on Bodacious Lotteries' SOMER Ticket Tracker page, just follow the link on the forum post.  He will check in daily at about 00:00 EVE time to post ticket sale updates and possible lottery end times.

He also has the channel B-LOTTO if you have any questions or you had a problem with the ISK Transfer.  You may also EVE Mail him.

Well, my duty to my friend is done.  Anyway, I get 20% of the lottery profits so what do I have to complain about?  Hopefully there will be some profits =/

Something New is Learned Every Day

Interesting Game Mechanics you may or may not know about:

#1 - If someone steals from you (IE- Takes from your Can, Wreck, etc.), you may warp scramble your Pod.

Doubt me?

Grab a friend with a neutral alt, get yourself fitted in a frigate and have him steal from you in a cheap ship.  Then pop his ship, lock up his pod and scramble it.

Presto!  Warp Scrambled pod in High Security Space!

NOTE: While you can scramble and shoot the pod after they have stolen from you, you cannot actually pod them.  The mechanics are a little more convoluted and unclear if someone should pop the pod in question while you have them scrambled.  We have tested the part where you can in fact scramble them and the part where you shoot them.  However, popping them via a suicide gank alt has confused me.  I have heard, or it has been suggested that if you do pop the pod via a suicide gank alt everyone on the mail gets a Global Criminal Countdown (GCC) and a visit from their local CONCORD Law Enforcement Squad.

#2 - You can repackage Tech 3's just like regular ships, without losing the subsystems!

I was unaware of this fact, and thought that subsystems were just like rigs.  However, according to several corporation buddies of mine, it is entirely possible.  They did it to move a few of their T3's in their freighter.  However, you will lose the rigs.

That's what I learned this past weekend.  I meant to put that in my earlier post.

Time to call it a night,

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

Nothing of Note

Damn... 10 PM on Sunday already?

My weekend was busy and eventful in real life, especially on Saturday.  There was not that much time for EVE except for Friday night after practice and this afternoon.

I got a few more kills, but nothing truly juicy.  Just a Noctis and a few T1 Ships.

What I find truly amazing about the Orca is the amount of loot that builds up in it's storage compartments.  I mean, I keep four standard containers in the cargo hold for sorting loot ("Cheap Fittings", "T2 Fittings", "Ammo & Drones",  and "Other") so it is relatively sorted.  Yet still it never ceases to amaze me what I find in there.  It's like a couch stuffed with dollar bills.

For example, last week some guy ejected from his executioner.  I scooped it in my Orca, went back to station and repackaged it because it wasn't rigged.  I then tossed it in my "Other" Can.  Yesterday I went through that can because I had reprocessed some items and I found it.  It was like a warn dollar bill that went through the wash.  I will probably donate it to the corporation though for use in our various maniacal activities.

Other entertainment news (No I don't just play EVE, and I don't just play Video Games Either):
I finally got about to beating Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood this weekend.  The ending is way too convoluted to be watched while playing EVE.  I'm going to have to re-watch the final cutscene on YouTube, otherwise I'm going to be confused for a good while.

I need to get back into a good book. I'm probably going to read A Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy when I next get the chance, but for some reason I've been putting it off.

Well, That's All Folks!

Three Terrific Kills

Noctis, Panther, Maelstrom.

The Noctis was perhaps the best of the evening, due to the fact that it dropped about 550,000,000 ISK, including the 50 million ransom I managed to get off of him.  I should have known something was amiss when he payed right away.  I have to sell that stuff soon, a Jita run will be made soon.  Please buy the stuff when I do, hah.

The second kill for me this evening was a Panther.  My first black ops kill did not disappoint, except for the fact that he forced us to forgo a 500 million ISK ransom because he was popping our ships.  That made me sad.  I had him about to pay, but because he disobeyed the basic ransom law, he died.  Hopefully he'll learn sometime soon.

Thirdly we killed a Laser fit Maelstrom.  No that is not a typo.  Lazor Maels always go red.  Why? Always bet on stupid =P

So that's about 75 million ISK in profit for me tonight, mainly because I had to buy a Harpy to move the loot from the Noctis and the contracts cost me about 8 million to put up.  Please buy them in the coming days!!!

It's late, so don't let the bed bug's bite.

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVE-*YAWN*-Gamer

Evil Wourmy

learned a hard lesson yesterday.

But you can't ask him about it, due to the fact that he emo-raged-quit yesterday evening after losing his Charon class freighter full of mining equipment: a total loss of 1,000,000,000.00 ISK.  Again, I love it when freighters go flashy red, they make me very happy.  And as the first official kill of April, according to EVE Time it was 00:25 when he turned red, this is a great start to a new month. Only sad part was he didn't want to pay our ransom so he died.  Ninja's always honor ransoms, it's common knowledge.

There are lots of screen shots of this on my steam profile, but here are the two best ones (imho). So scroll down and be merry at the sight of a freighter in deep structure.

Before...

No balls!
... and after...
He had balls aplenty...

he decided to turn flashy red.  That is why freighters are our friends and we always bet on stupid.

Killmail can be found here.

Thank you, come again.

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

P.S. In other news, we are at war with a Russian corporation that had a character that was out ninja-ing us until we suicide ganked his salvage thrasher shortly followed by his pod with, according to him, 300 million ISK in implants.  We then suggested that he declare war upon us.  He did so within 20 minutes, the declaration came in shortly after.

Long story shorter: Don't ninja in our space.  You will die.

I want a cookie

And by that I mean a Loki.

It would appear that I have fallen down the rabbit hole of Tech 3 love. With Tech 2 medium autocannons in about week it is only logical that I train up Minmatar Frigate and Cruiser 5. From there it's only a short step to the Loki, about a day. I guess by the time that is done my alt will be able to fly Orca's which would be sweet, except I'd haul around a lot of ships in a limited amount of space.

"But Hianmar, the whole point of a T3 is that you can have multiple subsystems for multiple jobs! " is the argument one might make against me getting a third tech 3 ship, but I love them!

My Tengu is my money making machine, and does so elegantly and efficiently (20-40 mil an hour on level 4's); My Proteus is my Gank Boat and Cloaky Surprise Butt-Sex ship with an amazing tank yet is possibly one of the ugliest (design, not texture) ships in the game. It is the hunchback of Notre Dame ugly, literally looking like a deformed man/duck/platypus. I blame the Friction Extension Subsystem.

But the Loki, the Loki looks just badass when fit for PvP. Plus, I can get some epic DPS at more than 5km range with far better tracking than the Proteus (those have been by far my biggest pet-peeves with the Proteus. You try hitting a frigate at 300m for 0.0 damage with blasters, it's annoying as anything). Granted, I may have to sell some more stuff, ransom a few billionaires or infiltrate a few wormhole corporations first, but I plan on buying a Loki in the coming months.

That's all for now,

Hianmar, a.k.a. TheEVEGamer

PS: I haven't forgotten to post about the freighter kill.
